Goodbye, Crystal City

I like Crystal City
The way I see it
It’s a tiny town full of the biggest companies in our country

Concrete STUFFED into brutalist designs by past minds who thought it a gift to us in our current future
A tiny town full of the biggest companies in our country

But I saw the edges and cracks of this tiny town filled and bonded with small business, schools, hospitals, barbershops, churches, libraries, apartments, and homes to make a community

Shoes shined
Slacks and military uniforms pressed
Multicultural food prepared

Music is played sometimes for free , other times for needs
Local affordable Art is sold

Out of towners running towards and away from the whistling train
Massages, lunch buffets, and fig trees
A dance recital
A play

A respectful throwup

Human expression
Community
And as this tiny town changes
So does our community

Change keeps on changing
